More On Mel

The Mel Gibson story continues to develop - & now with ex wife Robyn entering the fray. The ex ms Gibson - whom Mel claims in one tape to have left because they lacked common spiritual ground - presented an affidavit to the court in which she swore that Mel was a wonderful father and had never physically abused before, dru9ing, or after their 30 year marriage. It's now been revealed, via Popeater, that Robyn volunteered this affidavit - Mel didn't ask.

It seems that Ms Moore (Robyn's maiden name) still feels protective over her ex. In fact she is said to still 'value' their 30 year marriage. What's more she's tired of seeing Gibson slowly drawn and quartered in the media and over the Internet.

So while the chips may be down Mel's friends and family are closing ranks. The perception is that Oksana Grigorieva - otherwise known as the scheming gold digging whore - pushed him over the edge. Now while some claim that this is blaming the victim (it can be hard to tell who the victim is in some of these situations), even they can't deny that the woman has a way with a tape recorder. So the 64 000 question is why didn't she just leave, instead of sticking around and recording everything? It's not like Mel would have pursued her; if about 20% of the recording material is any indication he'd probably have bought her a ticket to anywhere she wanted to go to get rid of her. He might have even thrown in a reasonable retirement package - a Gold Diggers Special. Since most of the people most of the time can tell which way the wind blows, that may explain why public opinion on Mel is softening a little lately.
